Dendrometers are used to precisely measure the growth of plants in response to other environmental factors. This data can be used at similar time intervals to other environmental parameters such as water or temperature to get a highly detailed understanding of growth.
Used for biophysical research and precision farming
Applications include:
Research on the growth processes of plants
Monitoring the water status of plants for research, irrigation control or the effects of local construction activities on the ground water table
Precise dating of events such as the beginning and end of growing season, or stress events such as frost
Estimation of the water content and water storage pools in plants (in combination with sap flow measurement the transpiration can be calculated continuously)
Water loss of fruits and vegetables during storage
High precision, low power, rugged design
These instruments have been designed to be used in the widest range of environments for unattended monitoring.
Measurement resolution up to 0.2 um
Compatible with Campbell Scientific and other third party dataloggers as well as Ecomatik's dedicated datalogger
Internal battery lasts more than 2 years
Ruggedised models suitable for use underwater or in harsh environments
Temperature compensated
Different models for different species
There are a range of models so you can measure the trunks of large trees, individual fruits, tiny stems, roots and even underwater.
